Matt Grumley has been sharpening scissors, training stylists and cutting hair for more than 35 years — and he's been designing and selling his own scissors since 2007. That is 19 years as an independent brand, not a rebadged import line.

Our closest competitors are marketers who bought scissor brands from their previous owners within the last seven years. Matt is still the same person answering the phone, designing the tools, sharpening the edges, and standing behind every lifetime warranty he writes. There is no middleman. About Matt

Matthew Grumley is one of Australia's most experienced professional scissor technicians. He has spent more than thirty-five years sharpening, repairing, customising and selling hairdressing and barber scissors for professionals across Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania, and founded ShearGenius to put Japanese Hitachi ATS-314 steel into the hands of working stylists at prices the industry had never seen.

Before ShearGenius, Matt built a reputation running one of the country's busiest mobile scissor sharpening services — driving between salons, servicing tools on site, and rebuilding pivots and bevels that most grinders would not touch. Every scissor that carries the ShearGenius name is designed, tensioned and tested by Matt personally.
